Preparing Educators for Every New York Classroom

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of background, language, or ability, has access to effective, well-prepared educators. This commitment is grounded in the State’s implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which emphasizes equity, access, and continuous improvement across the education system.

At the center of this work is a focus on strong teaching and school leadership as key drivers of student success, particularly for students who have been historically underserved.

What are the NYSTCE?

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE) are a required part of the certification process for teachers and school leaders in New York State.

The NYSTCE are designed to ensure that candidates demonstrate:

  • Strong content knowledge
  • Effective instructional and pedagogical skills
  • The ability to support diverse learners
  • Readiness to teach in classrooms aligned to the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Standards

Together, the NYSTCE help confirm that new educators are prepared to meet the academic and developmental needs of all students.
